Faculty-Staff Endowed Scholarship
In response to California Lutheran University’s fundraising campaign, Now Is the Time, which ended in 2005, several faculty and staff members chose to apply their gifts to a new scholarship in direct support of present and future students. But even with regular payroll-deduction pledges and gifts, it took several years for the scholarship to reach the $10,000 level needed for it to become endowed. That goal was reached in 2011.
Faculty and staff contributed their ideas for criteria for the award. Financial need was of highest importance, followed by proof of academic competency in a 3.0 minimum grade point average. The recipient could be a major in any discipline, in the sophomore class or above.
The creation of the Faculty-Staff Endowed Scholarship by a group of faculty and staff joining together really showed the depth of commitment of the CLU community to serve those for whom the University exists—its students. New and ongoing contributions were encouraged.
