Kiekenapp-Bolstad Endowed Scholarship

Kiekenapp-Bolstad Endowed Scholarship

Waldemar and Anna Kiekenapp were very private people. But their desire to honor their parents for their love, care, and strong Christian guidance was powerful motivation to do something good and lasting—and somewhat public. The couple was not known to CLU before this scholarship came to the University through their estate. But their heartfelt belief in the value of quality higher education was expressed in every word and wish for the students who would one day receive this award.

Waldemar and Anna were quiet, faithful members of First Lutheran Church in Fullerton, California. They had no children, but they did have a special love for Lutheran higher education. Waldemar passed away in 1983; Anna followed in 1991.

The living trust of Waldemar and Anna could not begin to convey their pride in establishing this scholarship in memory of their parents. Anna’s parents were Andrew and Bertha Bolstad; Waldemar’s parents were Fred and Anna Kiekenapp. They were honored posthumously through this lasting legacy established in their names.

In keeping with their low-key, modest manner, Waldemar and Anna asked that the Kiekenapp-Bolstad Endowed Scholarship be awarded simply to deserving CLU students at either the undergraduate or fifth-year level.
