Pastor Carl O. and Edith W. Nelson Endowed Scholarship

To honor his parents, Rev. Carl Nelson established this scholarship through a gift annuity for Cal Lutheran students planning for a life in ministry. His father attended University of Minnesota and Augustana Theological Seminary (Rock Island). He served three parishes: Immanuel Lutheran in Mediapolis, IA; St. John’s in Madrid, IA (where he was also Chaplain for Lutheran Home for the Aged); and Lutheran Memorial in Minneapolis. Edith was a wonderful partner in her husband’s ministry, and enjoyed serving as a pastor’s wife. Carl Jr. was their only child and followed their lead into Lutheran ministry, serving the congregation of Mt. Olivet in Southwest Minneapolis for over 40 years.
